Hi everyone. Let me introduce myself. My name is Timothy Sykes. I started trading while I was studying business and philosophy at Tulane University in the early 2000s. In my senior year, I raised $1 million and founded my first business—Cilantro Fund Management. It was a short bias hedge fund that quickly started showing great progress. By 2006, I was named one of Trader Monthly’s promising young traders featured in its “30 Under 30” list. The Barclay Group praised it as the best long-short microstock hedge fund in the US.
Later, I decided to work on another project and founded Transparent Investment Management. To share my experience with future traders, I wrote a book An American Hedge Fund: How I Made $2 Million as a Stock Operator & Created a Hedge Fund. This is a story of my journey to success, which started with me skipping classes to trade and ended with wealth and success. To keep things light and fun, I organize “Miss Penny Stock”—a beauty pageant for my female employees to showcase their charm and financial skills.
